i thought that there might be some circulation in the engine bay as a result because the design of the hood creates a low pressure zone outside of the vent and that the heated air would be of a higher pressure and therefor flow out the vent. of course this only works to a certain point of equilibrium, but that point would be lower temp than stagnant air in the stock application. of course, we know what often happens when one assumes. and furthermore, my NA has NEVER gotten above halfway on the temp gauge except one day when the radiator was leaking fluid. i suppose that TTs may have more issues with heat, but for an NA i would think that the vent is unneeded and just invites trouble (moisture/rain).
